Car Concierge

Car Buying Service in Reno, NV

Reno’s dealer market is smaller than Las Vegas or Sacramento, so the right vehicle at the right price is often a few hours away. We find it, negotiate it, and handle the logistics.

Car Concierge is a licensed auto broker and car buying concierge based in Minnesota, working for buyers in Reno and across the country. We don’t take money from dealers. You pay one flat fee, and our only job is getting you the right vehicle at the best price.

How it works for Reno buyers

  • Tell us what you’re looking for, your budget, and your timeline, by phone or through our contact form.
  • We search dealer inventory around Reno and nationwide, and bring you the best options with real pricing.
  • We negotiate the price and check the buyer’s order for markups, add-ons, and fees before you sign.
  • You sign and pick up locally, or we arrange delivery through our auto transport service.

Taxes and fees for Reno car buyers

Here’s what Reno buyers should expect on a dealer purchase. Rates were checked against official sources in October 2026 and can change, so confirm with your local office before you buy.

  • Sales tax: When the sale takes place in Washoe County, the rate is 8.265%. Nevada taxes by the county of sale, and residents who buy out of state still owe full Nevada sales tax when they register.
  • How Nevada taxes vehicles: Nevada’s base sales tax is 6.85%, and county rates apply to vehicles. The rate is set by the county where the sale takes place.
  • Trade-in credit: Yes. Your trade-in allowance reduces the taxable price. Dealer doc fees are taxable.
  • Dealer doc fees: If a dealer leaves doc fees out of an advertised price, Nevada rules require the ad to identify them separately and state the amount.
  • Title and registration: A first-time Nevada title is $28.25. Registration also includes the Governmental Services Tax, which is based on a depreciated share of MSRP.

Registration and inspections in Washoe County

Where to title: Nevada DMV (the Reno office requires an appointment for out-of-state purchases); Nevada dealers handle title for their sales.

Inspections: Annual emissions testing is required in Reno, Sparks, and most of urban Washoe County (Incline Village and Crystal Bay are exempt). New vehicles are exempt for their first three registrations. Nevada has no statewide safety inspection. Emissions tests are required in the Las Vegas and Reno/Sparks urban areas, and new vehicles are exempt for their first three registrations.

Good to know in Reno

  • A passing emissions test within 90 days covers a transfer of ownership, or within 180 days on a Nevada dealer sale.
  • Private-party sales in Nevada aren’t subject to sales tax, but dealer sales are.

Buying from another state

Nevada collects its full sales tax on vehicles residents buy out of state. You’ll need a movement permit to drive the car home, and a VIN inspection for any vehicle never titled in Nevada. We handle the logistics and make sure the dealer’s paperwork matches your home state’s rules.

What it costs

Our service is a flat fee: $900 for Standard Concierge, $1,000 with trade-in help, and $1,200 for luxury vehicles over $120,000. You’ll know the total up front. See pricing for details.
