A car negotiation service is a professional who negotiates your car purchase or lease with the dealer, so you don’t have to. Car Concierge negotiates the whole deal for you, including the price, your trade-in, add-ons, and fees, for one flat fee. We’re a licensed auto broker, we work with buyers in all 50 states, and we don’t take money from dealers.
What we negotiate
The number on the window sticker is only one part of what you pay. We negotiate the full transaction:
- The vehicle price, including every manufacturer incentive and rebate you qualify for.
- Your trade-in, negotiated separately so its value isn’t hidden inside the overall deal. See our trade-in service.
- Dealer add-ons, such as protection packages, coatings, and accessories you didn’t ask for.
- Fees, checked line by line on the buyer’s order, including the doc fee.
- The final paperwork, reviewed before you sign, whether you’re buying or leasing.
How our car negotiation service works
- Tell us the vehicle and your budget. Fill out the contact form or call, and we’ll reach out within 24 hours. If you haven’t picked a vehicle yet, we’ll help you narrow it down.
- We shop and negotiate. We contact dealers near you and, when it gets you a better deal, across the country. You don’t have to talk to a salesperson.
- You approve the deal. We bring you the final numbers in writing. Once you say yes, you sign and pick up, or we arrange delivery to your door.
Hiring a car negotiator vs. negotiating yourself
| Car Concierge | Negotiating yourself | |
|---|---|---|
| Who talks to the dealer | We do | You do |
| Dealers compared | Local and nationwide | Usually a few nearby |
| Add-ons and fees | Reviewed line by line before you sign | Easy to miss in the paperwork |
| Trade-in | Negotiated separately | Often bundled into the deal |
| Your time | A few calls and a signature | Often several dealership visits |
| Cost | One flat fee | No fee |
Doc fees: what’s capped and what isn’t
The dealer doc fee is one of the easiest places to overpay, because the rules vary so much by state. A few examples from our city guides, checked against official sources in 2026:
| State | Dealer doc fee rule |
|---|---|
| California | Capped at $85, or $70 for dealers outside DMV’s electronic filing program |
| New York | Capped at $175 |
| Washington | Capped at $200 |
| Michigan | Capped at $280 or 5% of the price, whichever is less |
| Minnesota | Capped at $350 or 10% of the vehicle’s value, whichever is less |
| Pennsylvania | Capped at $490 for electronic processing, or $409 if not, for 2026 |
| Missouri | Capped at $620.79 for 2026 |
| Maryland | Capped at $800 |
| Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and North Carolina | No dollar cap, but disclosure or advertised-price rules apply |
Where there’s no cap, the fee is still part of the deal, and we negotiate it like everything else.
What it costs
Our negotiation is included in every concierge package. We charge a flat fee, not a percentage of the price or of your savings: $900 for Standard Concierge, $1,000 with trade-in help, and $1,200 for vehicles over $120,000. See pricing.
