Metro Atlanta has one of the biggest car markets in the Southeast, spread across Gwinnett, Cobb, the Perimeter, and the southside. We help Atlanta buyers compare it all and avoid fees that should have been in the advertised price.
Car Concierge is a licensed auto broker and car buying concierge based in Minnesota, working for buyers in Atlanta and across the country. We don’t take money from dealers. You pay one flat fee, and our only job is getting you the right vehicle at the best price.

Taxes and fees for Atlanta car buyers
Here’s what Atlanta buyers should expect on a dealer purchase. Rates were checked against official sources in October 2026 and can change, so confirm with your local office before you buy.
- Sales tax: You’ll pay Georgia’s one-time 7.0% Title Ad Valorem Tax on fair market value, minus your trade-in on dealer sales. New residents pay 3%.
- How Georgia taxes vehicles: Georgia charges a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) of 7.0% of fair market value when the vehicle is titled. It replaces sales tax and the old annual vehicle tax.
- Trade-in credit: Yes, on dealer sales. The trade-in value on your bill of sale reduces the TAVT base.
- Dealer doc fees: Georgia doesn’t cap doc fees, but any non-government fee, including doc fees, must be included in the advertised price.
- Title and registration: Register at your county tag office within 30 days of a dealer purchase, even though the temporary permit lasts 45 days. The title fee is $18.
Registration and inspections in Fulton County
Where to title: Your county tag office (Fulton or DeKalb County Tax Commissioner).
Inspections: Fulton and DeKalb are both metro emissions counties. An annual test (up to $25) is due before registration renewal, except for the three newest model years and vehicles 25 or more years old. Annual emissions testing is required only in 13 metro Atlanta counties.
